Swedish start-up Volta Trucks plans to launch the first prototype of its futuristic Volta Zero electric truck on the market this year. According to Volta Trucks, this truck will be specially designed for inner-city delivery traffic and thus reduce local emissions.
According to the manufacturer, the Volta Zero will have a payload of 8.6 tons and be equipped with a battery of between 160 and 200 kWh capacity. With a top speed of 90 km/h, this should enable a range of up to 200 kilometres.
In terms of materials, Volta Trucks is focusing on sustainability and plans to manufacture many parts of the bodywork from a special flax material reinforced with biodegradable resins. Volta has received support from the European Space Agency ESA in the development of these materials.
